Welcome to OUDS
From OUDS
Dear All,
It’s September. For many of us, a chance to recuperate between the excesses of Edinburgh and the beginning of term. For others, however, the last month before embarking on a new journey. And if you’re in the latter category, as an incoming fresher, then be assured that everyone in OUDS is preparing to give you a red carpet welcome.
Oxford drama has just seen a month of huge success at the Edinburgh Fringe and beyond. Many congratulations to all our returning casts and crew, many of whom even attracted a great deal of interest from the press. Oxford shows received coverage in The Times, The Guardian, and The Wall Street Journal.
But now it’s time to look towards the start of term. If you’re coming to Oxford for the first time, OUDS has a huge programme of events lined up for you. We’ll welcome you at the Freshers’ Fair and give you the chance to sign up; we’ll get to know you at Freshers’ Drinks in Freshers’ Week; and then we’ll set you loose on your own productions – to be performed at Cuppers, our mammoth intercollegiate drama festival, later in the term.
We even have a new ‘parenting’ scheme, where freshers interested in drama are teamed up with a ‘parent’ who’ll give them a helping hand. If you’re a fresher, just wait and we’ll let you know what you need to do to get a parent. If you are a returning student who wants to be a parent, email Sarah Perry, our Freshers’ Rep, on freshers@ouds.org.
I look forward to seeing you all back in Oxford. Until then, enjoy the rest of the holiday!
