The aim of these guides is to provide easy-access advice on all aspects of theatre in Oxford. They are written by students and members of OUDS and cover some of the main roles within an average production team (Producer, Marketing Manager, Costume Designer). More guides will hopefully be appearing soon.
The guides are structured so that you can either have a broad overview, or can easily find the part relevant to a specific query. If you have further questions about any role, please submit an enquiry in the OUDS Advisory and the appropriate advisor will respond as soon as possible.
These guides are by no means definitive, and the OUDS Committee takes no responsibility for incorrect or out of date information. If you do notice a glaring error, or wish to write a "How To ..." guide on any subject not yet covered, please email .
These guides cover almost all aspects of producing a student show. They are primarily aimed at the Oxford Playhouse, Old Fire Station and Burton Taylor theatres, but the information in them is generally applicable to the other venues in Oxford.
These guides give basic information on each of the three central theatres, the Oxford Playhouse (OPH), the Old Fire Station (OFS) and the Burton Taylor (BT). As far as other theatres (such as the Moser or the O'Reilly) are concerned, it's necessary to check the deadlines page of the OUDS website and the University Drama Officer's (UDO) newsletter regularly, as their requirements can change.
All of the application procedures are liable to change at any time, and the OUDS Committee takes no responsibility for deadlines that are not up to date or incorrect information.
These guides should help get you started in the world of marketing a student show in Oxford.
These guides will give you some tips in the right direction towards costuming a show.
